Most everyone that receives this Security Tip uses an alarm system of some type, but how many of you know if you have an ambush code on your alarm system?
An ambush code is a PIN (personal identification number) that makes the alarm system look deactivated, but sends a silent signal to the Police and/or monitoring company that personal assistance is needed right away due to an ambush.
Combination locks can also have this feature on mechanical (dial) and electronic (push button) combination locks. Just because a combination lock might have this capability does not always mean it is hooked into your alarm.
Chances are YOUR alarm system has this feature, but do you know what this important number is? Would you keep your head and use it if needed? Do you have policies and procedures on WHEN this PIN number should be used?
The ambush feature is a very useful, possibly a lifesaving part of your alarm system. Please know how and more importantly WHEN to use it.
